The Top Freezer Refrigerator Start Device Relay and Overload is mounted to the side of the compressor on the back of the refrigerator and causes the compressor to start when refrigeration is needed. If your refrigerator is not cold, or you hear humming or clicking noises coming from the back of the appliance, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. To ensure safety, remember to unplug the appliance or turn off the house circuit breaker for the appliance, and turn off the refrigerator's water supply prior to installing this replacement part.
