The SxS Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve Assembly allows water to enter the refrigerator’s water dispenser and ice maker. If one of the solenoids in the original unit is bad, it will prevent water from flowing into the ice maker and dispenser. If the ice maker of your appliance stops making ice, no water flows from the dispenser or it flows constantly, or if you notice water at the bottom of the fresh food compartment, the water inlet valve could be malfunctioning and need to be replaced. This assembly includes (1), a water inlet valve, (1) piece of plastic tubing, (1) plastic union, and installation instructions. Easy to install with basic hand tools like a multi-screwdriver, 1/2" wrench, some disassembly of the refrigerator, and novice repair experience. You must unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also, turn off the refrigerator’s water supply before you begin. Helpful Tips: The replacement part may look different than the original in your appliance, but the part will still function the same. We do not recommend disassembling your appliance’s current water inlet valve to clean it due to the risk of failure after the repair.
