Description

The Dryer Drive Belt wraps around the motor and pulley. The motor rotates the belt, and the belt tumbles the drum. If your dryer is noisy, won't tumble, or won't start, replacing the drive belt may alleviate these issues. When replacing this part, consider using Whirlpool's high-quality and easy-to-install replacement drive belt. To access your existing drive belt, begin by lifting the lint screen cover and removing the two screws. If your lint screen has an integrated cover, simply pull it out and then remove the screws. Next, take a putty knife and run it along the top edge of your dryer to locate the release clips. Press these clips in to release the top of the dryer so you can swing it open. The front panel also needs to be removed to replace the belt. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools such as a Phillips-Head screwdriver, a putty knife, and a 5/16" nut driver. It also involves some disassembly of the dryer and requires novice repair experience. Before installing this part, remember to unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker to ensure safety.
